Happy Birthday Corpsman!

On behalf of Capt. Elizabeth Adriano, Commander of Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point;

Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point,

Today, we celebrate the 123rd birthday of the most decorated rate in the U.S. Navy, our Navy Hospital Corpsmen.

Established June 17, 1898 by President William McKinley as the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps, these brave men and women of the rate continue to serve on the frontlines of our nation’s battles with honor and distinction.  They routinely go into harm’s way in their commitment to our Nation’s warriors and are beloved “doc” to our Marines.

A shout of “Corpsman Up!” on the battlefield or during training is a cry on behalf of the wounded and dying, those most in need of a Corpsman’s life-saving skills.  Today, we honor their courage and dedication to battlefield medicine.

To our Corpsman, I charge you to always remain ready to serve in the brutal crucible of naval, littoral and ground combat in defense of our nation and the freedoms we enjoy today.
