MCAS Cherry Point — Sailors and Staff at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point gathered Wednesday, September 20 to celebrate the promotion of one of their peers.

Hospital Corpsman Third Class Ernest Espiritu credits his mother’s determination and dedication to raising him as inspiration to serve in the U.S. Navy aboard Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point. Espiritu supervises the clinic’s department responsible for providing medical care to family members and beneficiaries living in communities surrounding the base and eastern North Carolina.

Hospital Corpsman First Class (Fleet Marine Force) Matthew Cutler, left, receives the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal from Capt. Sean Barbabella, Commander of Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point during a ceremony held Friday, July 21. Cutler received the award for his dedication to patient care and medical operations while serving aboard Naval Branch Health Clinic, Naval Base Coronado from April 2018 to March 2022.
